Open Question: Is Soka Gakkai a cult (the bad kind)?

I want something more than just "all religions are cults", that is an opinion. I also want more than just "they slander us because they don't know anything about us". I am giving Nichiren Buddhism a shot, but I don't belong to any organization, I came to it by the following website: http://wwwnichirendaishoninsbuddhism.com/ if it is not a viscious cult, they should set up shop around were I live (Olympia Washington) because there is a respectable number of people that might want to join and the closest SGI place is located far away in Seattle I think.
